Every Eye Will See Him

Based on Revelation 1:7

“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.”

Revelation is a profound prophetic look at Christ’s return, filled with symbology and amazing descriptions. But what John does initially is set the stage. Here’s what I’m talking about. Listen because I’ll describe this in more detail in the words to come.

Jesus Christ is going to return with the clouds (meaning from the heavens) and everyone will see him and mourn. The last piece, the mourning, is probably because there are so many who will have rejected him and who are in open rebellion to him at that time. Mistakes of eternal consequence are the worst kind. They are the ones that haunt you. That don’t go away. Forever.

For the Christian, this verse is the best news you could get. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, is coming back. Everyone will see him. Those who don’t know him will see him. Those of us who know him will see him. It will no longer be a secret. The narrow gate. The narrow road. It will be visible. We may be sad for those who don’t know him and who haven’t known him because it will be obvious to all then. But we will rejoice to see him, the one we know and serve, the one who paid the price for our salvation, the one who bought our redemption.
