A topical reflection on choices and deception
“For as much as it depends on you…”
Satan uses a lot of traps to try to snare us, but one of the most insidious is deceit. He tries to deceive us into believing something that is something else. When we do something wrong, Satan tells us we’re bad. When we make a mistake, Satan reminds us that we’re evil by nature. Then the belief system embraces the deceit and it suddenly makes no sense to try to follow God’s laws because it’s now clear that we cannot do it. At the root of all deceit is the inherent lie that tendence makes lifestyle, that one thing naturally leads to another, that if “this” happens it means “that” will always happen. Of course, none of that is true, it’s all Satan working through deceit to ensnare.
Life is simply a series of choices. They only become compounding choices when we fall for Satan’s deceit. If I make a bad choice I can freely follow it with a right or good choice. I don’t have to continue on the path just because I took a wrong turn. It’s not the wrong choice that traps me. It’s the choice I make after it that determines if I’m caught.
