Personal Reflections
Compelled to Share the Gospel
Based on 1 Corinthians 9:16
“Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”
It is a compulsion, an inner desire that is called out. The desire invested by the cross of Christ, tended over by the Holy Spirit, and glorifying to the Kingdom of God. A worker in the harvest who knows his or her work.
We can work in other areas, we can concentrate on other purposes, we can indulge other interests, but the desire to preach the gospel is what calls us. It is the one message we have. The entire content of our conversation. The power behind our voice. The cross of Christ.
What is it that I am compelled to do? What inner force works within me to take me in one direction or another?
It must continually be for the gospel.
What do I spend my time doing? What activities fill my day. Where are my thoughts at night?
It must continually be for the gospel.
Otherwise, why have I been called.
