Personal Reflections
Be Strong and Do the Work
Based on 1 Chronicles 28:9–10
"And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a temple as a sanctuary. Be strong and do the work."
David was clear and straightforward with his son. This was kingdom work, important, holy, ordained work from the most high God. It required unswerving dedication and a true servant’s heart. The rewards are eternal.
This is true of every believer. We have been called into high service by God. The calling is not mistakable, it is for every believer. But often we cringe from the duty because of our own human frailties or disbelief. Faith requires that we step forward with courage and confidence knowing that God will certainly continue the work that he begins in us. The outcome is assured.
What task are you being asked to do? In your church, or your small group, or other Christian organization? After prayer, if God puts this on your heart, then he has chosen you to do the work. No matter how big or seemingly impossible it seems, the God who created the universe has asked you to take the task. Be strong and do the work. He will never forsake you nor abandon you. Even in the middle of it.
Have confidence in the promises of Isaiah 40:28-31
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Be strong and do the work.
